Review and Analysis of Lenovo IT Asset Disposal Services

In April 2024 and again in August 2026, we conducted extensive research into eight major ITAD providers using their publicly available information. This white paper offers a detailed look at the results of that research into Lenovo's Asset Recovery Services (ARS). While Lenovo markets ITAD as part of its ESG strategy, its documentation lacks clarity, and our original research showed glaring issues with staff support. While they appear to have made important improvements, key details were still missing or had to be gleaned from sustainability reports. In contrast, ITAD MSPs provide comprehensive and transparent ITAD services, including online asset valuation, fast collection, secure data destruction, and cash-back options. The paper emphasizes the necessity of choosing a provider with clear procedures and a strong chain of custody to minimize risk and maximize value.
